Armed & Dangerous (1986)

Directed by:
Mark L. Lester
Screenplay by: Brian Grazer, Harold Ramis, James Keach
Rated: PG-13
Starring: John Candy, Eugene Levy, Robert Loggia, Meg Ryan, Glenn Withrow and others.

Armed and Dangerous starred Eugene Levy and John Candy as a lawyer and cop respectively, who each get fired then hired as security guards. They discover their security union is shady and hijinx ensue, as they are wont to do with those two. It's not a bad movie, and there are some good laughs in it.

Glenn appears near the beginning. He plays Lawrence Lupik, who's on trial (listen carefully for all the charges lol). It's a spoof on Charles Manson (complete with followers in the court room and a swastika on his head). Luckily I have good ears and heard them say "Lawrence Lupik" or I wouldn't have known it was him. He is awesomely unrecognizable, and I love it when actors can do that. Come to think of it, Glenn manages to look different in most of his roles - I can't count the number of people who didn't realize he played both Tim Shepard (The Outsiders) and Biff Wilcox (Rumble Fish).

There's something about transformation like that and stepping out of the box that I enjoy. Glenn always seems to make his characters so different from himself and each other. It must be so much fun to just be someone else for awhile, and being able to be radically different someone elses is appealing to me. I think that's why I enjoy writing so much. I get very into my characters, they take over my head. It's a nice way to step out of your own life for awhile.

Video Clips

PS: You all must love me long time for even getting this clip up thanks to the fact it was in KVCD format (*#&^$ KVCD, I say). After hours and hours of conversion programs, editing, unsynched audio/video, wishing I had a Mac, cursing Bill Gates, kicking, swearing, praying and dancing to the video gods, I finally managed to .wmv it into goodness. A ticker tape parade is being scheduled to celebrate my awesomeness.
