The story follows Travis (George Newbern - Danny the "yeti" on Friends. I tell you this so you don't spend 90 minutes going "who the HELL is he?!?" then hit up IMDb in the middle of the night because it's driving you crazy that you can't place him. Not that I did that or anything.) who is about to be married to his childhood sweetheart, but takes off for the city at the last minute to buy the car of his dreams, and ends up meeting a saleswoman he falls for and getting swindled on his dream car. It's a romantic comedy, although the fact that Travis cheats on his fiancée with the saleswoman kind of makes me go "Wut?" at the categorization of this as a "romantic" comedy.Glenn is literally in it for 5 seconds. You'll find him playing "Frank", a guy Travis sits next to on the bus when he takes off for the city. My beef with it is that there was no pay off. Something must have been left out of the story, because to show us Travis sitting and talking to this guy, you suspect there will be a reason for it later, we'll see Frank again in the future - something, some kind of pay off for that brief scene. But no, nothing. Aggravating as hell, I have to say.
I later learned from Glenn that the part was cut - Frank's appearance was much longer. Glenn was nice enough to provide me with the missing scene which is posted below. I still have issue with it - Frank, an awesome character, only appears in this scene. There really is no payoff later. I think it would have been great if Frank had actually re-appeared later in the film, just to give that big scene with him on the bus a pay off.
But, there were some nice kit cars (Lamborghini Countach - I remember loving the car purely for the scissor doors when I was a kid lol). Tony Geary also appears as an interesting car guru.
David Beaird also directed Pass The Ammo, and Richard Christian Matheson and Thomas Szollosi were writers and story editors for The A-Team for a number of seasons. A-Team fans will be thrilled to know these two are responsible for the legendary cabbage cannon.Purchase Information
